Reimagining the Pays de la Sagouine

Englobe’s Atlantic team is working with the Pays de la Sagouine, a beloved New Brunswick theatrical village and unique

tourist attraction which pays homage to the rich history and culture of the Acadian people, to help its operators manage

an unprecedented dilemma. Located on a small natural island in Bouctouche Bay, the Pays’ main attraction is being

overtaken by rising sea levels due to climate change, forcing the site to reinvent itself on the mainland.

Though the Pays continues to reimagine its immersive theatrical experience, there is a bright light amidst the doom

and gloom! In August 2023, it celebrated a major milestone with the opening of a new experience called Akadi Lumina.

Designed as a unique and immersive visual night walk, the Akadi Lumina is a 1.5 km footpath in the wooded area near

the Pays de la Sagouine located on the mainland.

Facilitated by Englobe, the Akadi Lumina deployment has led to a signif icant uptick in visitors to the Pays de la

Sagouine, with corresponding economic and social benef its to the attraction and surrounding community.
