Montreal, Quebec, and Edmonton, Alberta – Englobe, a Canadian specialty engineering and environmental services firm with a well-established network of offices and facilities across Canada, France and the UK, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Protostatix, a highly regarded structural engineering firm in the Western Canadian market, with a best-in-class reputation for technical expertise and quality. Following the successful close of this transaction, all 30+ current Protostatix employees will join the extended Englobe family.

Protostatix’s areas of specialization include structural engineering for commercial, light industrial, high-rise, and historic buildings, both for public and private projects. Founded in 1980, the company has a head office in Edmonton and an additional office in Calgary. Over the past years, Protostatix has participated in a diverse range of projects, including the conversion of the Glenora Skyline project into the West Block building, the redevelopment of the Brewery District, the construction of the Fox 1 and 2 towers, and the Revera McConachie Gardens in Edmonton, the construction of the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex and the Jim Starlight Centre of the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and various schools projects across Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Bolstering Englobe’s Strength and Presence Across Canada

With the addition of the Protostatix’s team, Englobe aims to increase its participation in business opportunities and construction projects all across Canada, with a broader array of specialty engineering services. Protostatix’s diversified practice – which includes many public projects (schools, recreation and community centres, institutional/post-secondary buildings, etc.) as well as a broad range of private ones (commercial, industrial, residential, renovation) – will enable Englobe to diversify and enhance its pan-Canadian structural engineering service offers in these sectors.

With this objective in mind, Englobe and Protostatix presented an excellent natural fit. The two companies have partnered over the years on several projects, making a difference in the communities we serve, and have consistently exceeded clients’ expectations regarding service and project delivery. Protostatix’s structural engineering expertise and service offer will help diversify Englobe’s operations and expand its footprint across the country.

“Increasing our strength in this service line improves our ability to bid on and deliver larger, multidisciplinary building assignments across Canada. We’re very pleased to welcome Protostatix’s 30-member team of experienced professionals into the Englobe family to generate tremendous value for our clients and communities,” notes Mike Cormier, Co-President of Englobe.

“This transaction represents the next step in our company’s evolution, and will support our ambitious growth objectives. I’m excited to see what lies ahead for Protostatix, and to join Englobe, a company whose solid values include careful environmental stewardship, professional excellence, and a culture of caring for its staff, clients and communities,” states Dino Loutas, President, Protostatix.
