Between September 9 and September 23, MPE a Division of Englobe (MPE) participated in the 2023 September Games organized by the Calgary Corporate Challenge (CCC).
CCC is a non-profit organization with a vision of unifying Calgary's business community, one event at a time. The organization provides companies in the Calgary region with professionally managed team‑building events that emphasize fun, promote philanthropy, and encourage participation, inclusion, health and fitness, cross-industry networking, and positive teamwork.

In the spirit of the event, MPE made a $550 donation in support of the Calgary Food Bank to supplement the cost of fresh food. The Calgary Food Bank is one of the 10 charity partners that CCC teamed up with during the games to increase awareness and provide opportunities for companies to give back to the community.
In total, there were 24 sporting events organized including 5K and 10K runs, basketball, horseshoes, sim racing, soccer, and table tennis to name a few. Our team brought their A-Game to every activity, and their efforts resulted in a total of six medals: two gold, two silver, and two bronze.
Vivian Vu, a regular participant and one of MPE’s captains for CCC, believes that the challenge is a welcomed opportunity for staff to build connections and get active. ‘It’s always a bit of a scramble getting our staff organized when we participate in so many sports, but it’s well worth the effort when you see everyone come together with big smiles on their faces. Many of our first-year staff had no idea what they signed up for but were pleased they had the opportunity to play sports with staff they do not usually work with and get to know them better. The games also allow our staff to try new sports they have never played or even heard of. We are tremendously grateful for all that CCC has done as they provided us with many opportunities to come together as a team and enjoy each other’s company.’

This was MPE’s third year taking part in the corporate challenge games, and it was the most successful yet with our team placing third in the Blue division. While winning medals and achieving a high ranking was good for the team’s ego, we are particularly proud that 70% of staff participated in at least one sport - a 5% increase from 2022. Everyone in the Calgary office is already looking forward to the 2024 games when we hope to achieve a staff participation rate above 75%.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this great initiative.
